Saprobic especially on dead wood in terrestrial habitats. Sexual morph: Ascomata apothecial, solitary or gregarious, immersed to superficial, globose to sub-globose, unito multi-locular, black. Exciple pseudoparenchymatous. Hamathecium composed of filamentous, anastomosing pseudoparaphyses, forming a dark brown epithecium above the asci. Asci 8-spored, bitunicate, clavate to cylindro-clavate, short or long-pedicellate, apically rounded with an ocular chamber. Ascospores 2–3-seriate overlapping, septate, clavate to ellipsoidal or ovoid, hyaline to brown, with or without a mucoid sheath. Asexual morph: corniculariella-like. Conidiomata pycnidial, superficial or immersed in cultures. Conidiophores branched, hyaline, septate.
Conidiogenous cells integrated, hyaline. Conidia straight to curved, hyaline. Chlamydospores may present.
