Karstenellaceae

Karstenellaceae Harmaja
Facesoffungi number: FoF 04222
Taxa are saprobic on leaf litter and wood surfaces. They are only recorded from Finland and New Mexico (Kristiansen 2010). They produce resupinate, membranous apothecia. Asci are scattered on a mycelial mat. Young apothecia are pale greenish-yellow and become milky orange to light pinkish salmon or brownish red at maturity (Hansen et al. 2008; Harmaja 1969b). Asci are inamyloid and operculate. Ascospores are binucleate or multiguttulate (Hansen et al. 2008; Harmaja 1969b). Asexual morphs are not recorded. Recent studies are not available on this family.
