Saprobic on soil. Sexual morph: Apothecia cupulate, brown when dry, blackish brown when rehydrated, sessile. Disc brown. Ectal excipulum composed of cells of textura angularis to globulosa, hyaline to brownish. Medullary excipulum composed of cells of textura intricata. Hymenium hyaline. Paraphyses hyaline, smooth thick-walled, septate. Asci unitunicate, operculate, cylindrical, long pedicellate, non-amyloid, 8-spored. Ascospores globose, hyaline, aseptate, guttulate. Asexual morph: Undetermined.

Notes: Pulvinula convexella is characterised by having cupulate apothecia, operculate, non-amyloid asci and globose ascospores (Lenne 2004).
