Saprobic on soil. Sexual morph: Apothecia 2–8 cm diam., scattered. Receptacle turbinate to discoid, external surface rough with hairs, dark brown when dry. Disc concave, brown when dry. Hairs 20–120 x 5–12 µm, cylindrical, brown, septate, apically blunt, with finely granulated walls. Ectal excipulum composed of brownish cells of textura globulosa to angularis with scarcely dispersed resinous exudates. Medullary excipulum composed of hyaline cells of textura intricata. Paraphyses 2–3 µm wide, numerous, septate, filiform, slightly enlarged at the apices. Asci 380–450 x 12–20 µm, 8-spored, unitunicate, cylindrical, rounded at the apex, long tapering base, nonamyloid. Ascospores 30–40 x 12–18 µm, uniseriate, aseptate, hyaline, ellipsoid to subfusoid, 1-3-guttulate. Asexual morph: Undetermined.

Notes: Trichaleurina javanica is characterized by its turbinate to discoid apothecia with external hairs. Asci are long stipitate (Carbone et al. 2013a).
